Mini Album

Mini Album: 2017

Yay! Spring is here! This is my favorite time of year! This is when I have my Julie Andrews/Maria von Trapp moment running up the hills singing “the hills are alive”. There’s just something about flowers, plants, and trees blooming all around, warmer weather, and allergies with the occasional nose bleed, I just love it all!

If you follow me on Instagram and have read earlier posts, you’ve probably already seen the first few pages of my 2017 mini album. But, since I had not made an “official” post, I thought why not share the first pages on a separate post? So get ready for some deja-vu as you scroll down.

Let’s begin with the album itself, it’s the Reporter Acrylic Album. I ordered it through Jamiaca Makes. <-  This is the link to the shop, this particular album is not available right now but she does have more to choose from. (Plus, check out her blog, she has awesome layouts!)

I used Kellie Stamps’ Hello Sunshine Digital Set for the “2017”. I added it with Photoshop, did my little eraser magic as to make my peace sign fingers appear in front of the numbers, slapped on some Alanis lyrics, and viola! My cover page was made!

For these next couple of pages, I used the Daisy 6×8 Printable from Push Print Studios and a photo that I took using my GoPro. I made a notecard using a digital stamp from Kellie Stamps’ Good Times and I jotted down some quotes, you know, in case I need to give myself a little pep talk, like I’ve been needing to everyday this year.

I used another one of Kellie Stamps digital sets for this next layout, Today Was, and stickers from the Fri-Yay sticker set.

This is what I love about digital stamps, the possibilities are endless! I love how I was able to use this phrase as the background to these photos (also taken with my GoPro). I was able to add pops of color with these circle cork stickers from my Messy Box subscription.

I feel like my mini album is off to a good start and I can’t wait to share more soon! But for now, I think I’m going to take advantage of this beautiful day and maybe take a nap or watch TV all day.

Hope you guys enjoyed!

My Favorites

January ’17 Top 5

If 2017 and I were in a boxing match, the score would be Diana: 0 2017: 1. Round 1, aka January, started off very positive, I mean I trained hard! But then I got over confident, I still held my own after a couple of jabs but then came the almighty upper cut! So dramatic! In all seriousness, January was alright, I have no reason to complain! Plus look at the bright side, I have a Top 5 for you guys! It’s been awhile, right?

This month’s faves are all about the products I will be using to document 2017 (I will kick your ass ’17!).

1. A Beautiful Mess Gray 9×12 Messy Book Album

jan-17-fave-1

TA-DA! My new album for the year! I decided to go with a 9×12 album and I loved this gray album from A Beautiful Mess. The inside of the album is a bright yellow, giving the album a pop of color. Sorry guys, I tried to link up the album and it is no longer on the website. Fingers crossed that changes!

2. Kellie Stamps Digital Month Pocket Page Cards

jan-17-fave-2

I feel like Kellie has done all the hard work for me with these monthly PL inserts. When you purchase the cards you get them in 4×6 and 3×4 inserts in JPEG and PNG files. If you’re like me and like to make intro cards to your layouts, like the one above, this set is perfect and ready to use for the year.

3. NessaSelwyn Metallic Taupe Travelers Notebook Cover

jan-17-fave-3

Using a monthly calendar helps me keep up with my Project Life documenting. So to help me keep up with my calendar I bought this midori cover, I mean look at that metallic color! You must check out Nessa Selwyn’s Etsy shop, it was really hard to choose which one to get.

4. Lamy Al-Star Charged Green Fountain Pen

jan-17-fave-4

I loooooove my Lamy pen! I already had a black one so I knew my next one would be a fun color. I had the major heart eyes when I saw the charged green color. Beautiful color, reminded me of a pear.

5. Jamaica Makes Reporter Acrylic Album

jan-17-fave-5

This year I plan to keep up with a mini album also. I’m liking using minis because this is where I really get to play with photos and Photoshop. This is the reporter size, which to me seems like you have to use it vertically, but I plan on using it vertically and horizontally. Should make for an interesting album!

It looks like 2017 will be well documented with the help of these items. I pretty much have no excuse to fall behind this year! Let’s get ready for round 2!

Kellie Stamps January ’17 Release

Hi there! I’m showing off the new Kellie Stamps release for you guys. I’m on the “digital” team this time around and I am loving it!!! I love playing in Photoshop and using digi-stamps is pushing me to try new techniques.

For this layout I used the new Looks Like Summer digital stamp set. You can see I used a couple of stamps on my photos and I even made an insert to journal on, which helped balance the colors of this layout

I also used a sticker off of the Fri-Yay sticker set. Here are a couple of close ups for you to check out (yes, that’s me on the ground on the pic below after I fell because apparently I can’t jump…)

I used the numbers off of the Hello Sunshine digital stamp set for the cover of my 2017 mini album.

20170129_140200

I actually had a hard time deciding on what to use as my cover photo but then I realized, what better than to use a peace sign and some Alanis Morissette lyrics?

I hope you guys check out the new Kellie Stamps release! I hope you got a bit of inspiration for digital stamping but if that’s not your cup of tea, both sets I mentioned today are also available in clear stamps!

Thanks for stopping by!

December Daily · Mini Album

December Daily: Days 16-20

Hi there! Today I’m sharing Days 16 thru 20 of my December Daily mini album. Not going to lie, I’m pretty much over Christmas at this point… anybody else? Yes? No? Just me? I’m ready to wrap this up because I’m pretty eager to start on my 2017 Project Life album. I’m loving all the new stuff coming out and I can’t wait to start sharing my new projects!

Let’s get started with day 16. I used an Ali Edwards paper as the background for my left page from her December Daily Main Kit. I wrote down my favorite Christmas movies on a white tag and added a wooden ornament from the Color Cast Designs 2016 Christmas Ornaments set.

dd18

Here’s a close up of my bad handwriting favorite Christmas movies and a picture of the Elf ornament AJ picked out for us this year.

dd18a

December 17, the day we actually went out and did something festive and I got to wear something Beyonce inspired, all in one day!

dd19

Day 18 was back to normal, we didn’t have much going on that day so I took a quick picture of the gift wrap I used and I added this fun paper I found on Push Print Studios.

dd20

Double paged photos became my favorite for this album. I got a close up of some poinsettias on the 19th. I love the look of these flowers so I was happy I was able to incorporate them in my album (yet my husband doesn’t let me incorporate them in our home because he says I’m a plant killer…)

dd21

These last couple of years, I’ve asked my family and friends to gift us with ornaments from their travels. So for day 20, I took a picture of an ornament my sister bought us from Disney World this year.

dd22

The green and white snowflakes are from the Stampin Up December Wonder Stamps set. This digital set turned out to be perfect for my mini album!

dd22a

So now I only have one more blog post to go for the last pages of my album! I’m still planning on doing a flip through video of the whole album once I’m done but I need to so some research on how to do this. I love editing photos so let’s see if I can edit a video!

I hope you guys enjoyed these new pages, see you next time!

New Year

Year in Review: 2016

Happy New Year guys! I know January 1st is just another day but the new year always feels like a fresh start to me. 2016 was full of ups and downs but yet I am very fortunate that my downs were not all that terrible. I went into 2016 excited and ready to tackle anything that came my way. This year I would say instead of excited, I am aware. 2016 was the best year I’ve had creatively. I was on the Becky Higgins Project Life creative team and did a guest post on her blog, I was invited to appear on Jess Forster’s podcast, Pocket Talk, and I was asked to teach a class at Big Picture Classes. I also made it into the Kellie Stamps and Color Cast design teams. I never would have imagined I would have all these opportunities, much less all in one year. Tomorrow, January 3rd, will be The Lovely Pear’s two year anniversary. That alone means so much to me, being able to continue my little blog that could. I have put in so much thought and hard work into this blog and it’s been worth it to me because of all the friendships I have formed on social media with my fellow creatives!

I’m not participating in Ali Edward’s One Little Word, not because I don’t want to (believe me the want is there!), but if I was, my word would be “Freedom”. Maybe listening to a lot of George Michael has inspired this word, but I would choose it because this year I plan to free myself from any negativity. 2016 was one of my most stressful years, mainly because I let myself become influenced by negative people and negative thoughts. I even confided to my mom that I had been feeling very negative towards people and about life in general. I knew I had no reason to be/think that way and I was missing that happy-go-lucky side of me. Even though this was a rough year mentally, it really taught me a lot. I may be in my thirties but I feel like I’m still trying to figure it all out. It all boiled down to knowing and appreciating the positive people I have in my life. My family and my real friends, people who care about me and are genuinely happy for me.

Ok, it’s getting pretty deep up in here but I think you guys know what I mean and I’m sure many of you have been there.

So on to a more happy topic, I want to (re)share some of my favorite projects from 2016.

I’ve put a lot of thought into how I want to do my documenting for 2017 and I have decided to do a 9×12 Project Life album with monthly spreads and continue doing an “all about me” mini album.

At the end of my Year in Review: 2015 blog post, I shared my favorite picture that I took that year and I thought I’d do the same again for this post.

DCIM101GOPROG0171898.

So instead of Freedom 90, this is Freedom 17. I hope I have another great creative year and a much more positive one and I wish the same for you! Thank you from the bottom of this Texas gal’s heart for taking the time to visit this blog and reading my posts!

Here’s to 2017!
