2016 Christmas Cards: Merry & Bright

I just love this time of year, the smell of the Christmas tree, listening to nothing but Christmas music, and the feeling of jealousy of the people attending Ellen’s Twelve Days of Giveaways. Ahh… I just love it!  And of course the rush to get Christmas cards made and sent, because we all know I like to wait until the last minute to do anything. It’s been a good while since I made a card but I really wanted to make Christmas cards this year. I made some last year but because we started packing our house up, they quickly fell to the bottom of my to-do list. Hopefully I get around to posting about those soon, emphasis on “hopefully”.

This year I decided to use the Festive Sketch stamp set from the Tim Holtz Collection. I stamped a pattern of ornaments all over the front with my MISTI. Aligning the stamps like the photo below helped me stamp my cards very quickly.

I used Post It tape to make some funky shapes over the ornaments and colored them in using my blending foam tool and some Papertrey Ink. The colors I decided to use are Soft Stone, Hibiscus Burst, New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, and Pure Poppy. I love this color combo now but I was very hesitant at first because I am not a big fan of pink (but I love flamingos and pink lipstick?). If it were up to me, all my cards and layouts would be black and white, BUT I’m very happy with the pops of colors on this card.

I did the same thing, but in smaller triangles, with a Wink of Stella brush in clear.

For my sentiment, I used PTI True Black paper, SSS white embossing ink, and Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad. It’s been such a long time that I’ve embossed anything, it warmed my heart and almost burned my fingers.

I adhered the sentiments with Scotch Permanent Mounting Squares.

The inside of my card was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black and my Martha Stewart clear stamp mount.

This card was VERY simple to make, just how I like it! I made a total of fifteen cards and now all I have to do is get them in the mail, which I WILL DO this week!

Love, love, love this year’s Christmas cards and I hope you do to!

On a side note, I decided to partake in the December Daily festivities and I cannot wait to show you what I’ve done so far!

September ’15 Top 5

Hi guys! It’s October and Summer is over! I’m so ready for cooler weather, boots, and Halloween, not really looking forward to putting away the flip flops, everybody talking about pumpkin-spice flavoring, and daylight savings time ending. Oh well… Once fall starts I feel like it just goes downhill from there, first Halloween, then Thanksgiving right after, and before you know it, it’s Christmas! So with that being said, this month’s Top 5 has a couple of holiday items!

September Top 5

1. Hero Arts You’re My Boo Stamp & DieDSC03214

I really wanted to make Halloween cards this year and I wanted to find a stamp with a cute/funny pun, and I found this. I didn’t own anything from Hero Arts aside from the ombre inks, so I checked out their site and fell in love with this stamp. It was exactly what I was looking for plus it’s wood mounted and you can also purchase the matching die set!

2. Plain Angela Planner Stickers

Planner stickers are a must have for anybody who is addicted to their planner like I am. I’m always looking for different ways to decorate my monthly calendar or just a plain spread. My friend, Angela, just opened up an Etsy shop and you can find different types of stickers and she regularly adds new ones. Go check it out!

3. Papertrey Ink Wet Paint Holiday Stamp Set
DSC03217

I have already started my shopping for my Christmas cards this year. Once I startd planning my cards I knew for sure I wanted to use this stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I love the fonts and the different combinations you can use for your sentiment. I’m getting into the Christmas spirit already and I can’t wait to start working on my cards!

4. Mommy Lhey My Doodled Day Planner Stamp SetDSC03220

Another great accessory for your planner are planner stamps. Momma Lhey has a variety of planner stamp sets to choose from but I really loved this one. Each stamp is small and perfect for your monthly calendar. I especially love the “chinese”, “pizza”, and “tacos” because that’s literally all I know how to cook (or order).

5. Ali Edwards Just Thankful Stamp SetDSC03223

I went onto the Ali Edward’s website to look for some Project Life stamps and I came across this set and thought it was perfect for my gratitude journal. Not only can I use it for that, but it could also be used for Project Life and even a Thanksgiving card. I love stamp sets that have many uses!

I’ve already started working on a couple of different projects that I’m excited to share. September ended up being a slow month for me creatively, I’m hoping to pick up the slack in October though. I’m also ready to start on my September Project Life layout! I took a lot of pictures during the month so hopefully I’ll be able to get my layout done quickly like last month, fingers crossed!

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back soon!

Card Making

Just Saying Hello

Hello, welcome back! I have a new card to share with you today! I had a friend ask me for a card, she wanted to give it to a close friend of hers and so I finally broke out the Vintage Roses stamp set from Altenew.

Just Saying Hello 1

First let me say…. the MISTI and Vintage Roses are a match made in heaven! It would have taken me forever to stamp the roses and leaves had it not been for the MISTI. I also used it to stamp a sentiment from Altenew’s Super Scripts stamp set.

Just Saying Hello 2

I used all Papertrey Ink ink pads and paper. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and heat embossed with Judikins Iridescent Sparkle Embossing Powder.

You can see below the inks in the order I used them to stamp the roses and leaves.

Just Saying Hello 3

I decided to submit this card into the Simon Says Use Your Favorite Technique and/or Product challenge. Heat embossing is my favorite technique, especially when it’s clear or iridescent, I just love the effect it has. Also, I love any stamp set that has layers to it. I’m blown away by these types of stamps because the images are so awesome and look hand painted compared to a one layer stamp.

I Love U Sew Much

Hey guys!  I wanted to make a colorful card to submit to the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Week 5 Challenge. I’m also submitting a card for the first time to Virginia’s View Challenge #14 Layers and Dimensions.

Virginias View Challenge

I recently ordered some awesome Paper Smooches stamp sets and I wanted to use the Needle Little Love set. As you can see below, it has all these cute shapes associated with sewing and I love the sentiments it comes with.

I Love U Sew Much 2

I made the pattern using EK Success’ Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (I love that name). Now, I can’t wait to get a MISTI, but until I do, my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig will do for now and it’s real easy to use.I Love U Sew Much

I attached my patterned paper with foam tape to give it some depth. All these fun ink and paper colors are from Papertrey Ink. I can’t say enough great things about Papertrey’s colors!
I Love U Sew Much 3

And there it is! This card has served as a reminder to me that I need to use my sewing machine more often. Hopefully… maybe… on the next card?

Hope you guys have a great Easter weekend!

About the Pear · Card Making

Springtime Hello

Hey guys! I’m so excited for today’s post! I’ve been meaning to take pictures of my pear tree because it looks so beautiful right now, it’s blooming and full of little white flowers. I was going to take pictures of it during the day but we were outside frying dinner (beer battered chicken strips) pretty late and we were right underneath the tree and I can’t even describe how breathtaking it was to see the moon and stars through all these branches. I don’t know about you guys, but I love, love, love being around nature. My mom instilled a love of nature in me at a young age. She would tell me the flowers she planted were my brothers and sisters, and I giggle to myself as I type this because it sounds silly but that’s my mom and now I understand what she meant when she would talk to me about flowers and plants and trees. So of course, that just helps explain why  this pear tree has so much sentimental value to me, that, and because my parents planted it and look at it now.

I like to PRETEND I know what I ‘m doing behind a camera, so just pretend with me. I thought these pictures were so awesome, I actually thought the pictures were going to come out pitch black but I was pleasantly surprised. I just love how these pictures came out with the black background.Pear Tree - Spring 4 Pear Tree - Spring 6 Pear Tree - Spring 7 Pear Tree - Spring 8 Pear Tree - Spring 9

Because I’ve been feeling the springtime love, I wanted to make a quick and simple card, with spring colors. I decided to use my Papertrey Ink products for this card.
Springtime Hello 1

I ended up making a “Y” shape (just wanted to try something different) for the top layer and used the smallest die from the Stitched Rectangle dies to make a pattern behind it.Springtime Hello 2I think the font on this Hello is so pretty and I couldn’t wait to use it (it’s only $3 on their site!!!) I added a couple of Moonshine sequins and voila! I also wanted to mention, Papertrey Ink has my favorite paper, I HIGHLY suggest buying their Perfect Match Cardstock Sampler!

Well that’s it for now, thanks for stopping by today and checking out my card and pictures!
