August ’15 Top 5

Hey there! I hope you guys had a great August, I sure did and I can’t wait to get started on my Project Life layout! I am most definitely ready for Fall but for now I am wearing my flip flops and t-shirts as much as I can…

Anyway, on to the Top 5:

August Top 5

1.Studio Calico Mega Date Stamp

August Fave 1 I really tried to stop myself from getting this because I thought “why do I need a huge date stamp?”, but then I saw all the cool traveler notebook spreads and scrapbook layouts that people made using this stamp. You can see below the comparison in size between the mega stamp and the Heidi Swap stamp that I usually use. No joke, this thing is the size of my face.August Fave 1a

2. Kelly Purkey Reading List KitAugust Fave 2 I’ve been picking up my books a lot lately so I knew I had to have this kit as soon as it came it out. I love how you can rate and review your book with the stamp set and I especially love the cards it comes with for you to jot down your favorite quote from the book, plus you also get this in a PDF file so you can print more once you’ve used them all up. I did a test run with a book I finished early August, A House in the Sky by Amanda Lindhout. The cards are perfect for Project Life!August Fave 2a 3. Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi, 24 Color SetAugust Fave 3

I REALLY wanted this watercolor set back when watercoloring was getting popular in the card making world but I knew I didn’t need to spend that amount of money on them being a beginner. That’s how I ended up with the Peerless Watercolors. BUT, I just happened to find this set at Hobby Lobby and you know what that means… you can get it half off with their weekly coupon!!! Straight into my cart it went!

4. Lamy Safari Fountain PenAugust Fave 4

I’ve always had an obsession with pens (please tell me I’m not the only one) and I knew I was in trouble when I googled “Lamy”. I happened to ask somebody on Instagram what kind of pen they used for their traveler’s notebook and she told me she uses a Lamy fountain pen. There are different colors, types, and nibs to choose from, I happened to go for the Safari fine tip pen (black on black like my Jeep :D). It’s my first fountain pen and it did take a while to get used to it, and because of that any little piece of paper I could find has my name written all over it. Writing with this pen feels just like butta!

5. Pink Paradise Flair Buttons

DSC03062

My friend Angela and I decided to open up an Etsy shop, Pink Paradise, and sell flair buttons and hopefully down the line other types of embellishments. It is definitely still a work in progress but we both love creating and we are crazy about embellishments and thought “why not make our own?”

I love using flair buttons on my Project Life and scrapbook layouts, and the good thing about them is if you can also order these in pin-back or hollow-back!

I hope you guys enjoyed my list, I know I had a lot of fun spending money on these items! I also hope you guys check out the Pink Paradise Etsy shop, the link is below. Also, you can find me on Tumblr now, it’s more of a personal account with a lot of Friends and Harry Potter reblogs but also more personal photos.

Hope you guys have a great September!

Traveler's Notebook

Traveler’s Notebook Spread 1 & 2

Hi everyone! I’m so excited for today’s post, it is my first time showing off the inside of my Traveler’s Notebook!

I have three notebook refills, one kraft (refill #014), one monthly calendar (refill #017), and one grid (refill #002. I wasn’t sure where/how to start, I didn’t know how to make it my “style” (kinda still don’t) but I just wanted to start, somewhere. I did however, know I wanted to start doing a gratitude journal, again, and I hope to show one of those spreads soon but for now, I have two spreads using the grid refills.

I ended up deciding to use my grid refill as a random journal. I want to fill it with inspiring quotes and random memories/pictures. So of course, I wanted to add a Frida Kahlo quote, which you can see below. I printed a black and white photo of her and colored in her lips and shawl with highlighters. I doodled a little on it and practiced a little bit of lettering.

My family and I recently got back from a little vacation we took to Dallas, TX. We had such a blast and I really wanted to journal about a concert we went to. I printed a couple of pictures and I went online to find the concert set list and added those to this spread. I used Studio Calico’s Mia Alpha stamp set on here, along with my new Lamy pen (insert lovey-dovey eyed emoticon here, I LOVE my Lamy pen).

And there are my first two spreads!

I am loving my notebook, I’m always looking for random things to put in it plus I love the idea of jotting down certain memories that I know I’ll forget down the line.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my quick post, hope you guys enjoyed!

Project Life

Project Life: July ’15

Hi everyone! I’m back with my Project Life layout for July. I really tried taking more photos this past month. I always had a camera on me (or two) and I made sure to take pictures of what caught my eye. My family and I also bought a selfie stick and put it to good use. We didn’t care that people were probably looking at us funny because we couldn’t stop yelling and laughing because we had no idea what we were doing.DSC02969

I used Studio Calico, Kellie Stamps, Kelly Purkey, and Simon Says Stamp stamps for my layout. For the journaling cards, I used Studio Calico and Amy Tangerine paper and a card from Big City Quiet Designs.

DSC02972I made the firework journal card with Photoshop, because come on, you know that song pops into your head when you see fireworks (Right? Or am I the only one?).
DSC02982Some of the pictures I took during July were for another Project Life album I’m working on and I didn’t want to use the pictures twice, so I ended up having more empty spaces on this layout than I thought I would. To help cover more space, I took a 4×3 picture of AJ and made it into a 8×6. I really like how the layout turned out because of it.DSC02987This week I will be heading to Dallas for a small family trip and I am charging my cameras and selfie stick as I type! I’m hoping I will have tons of pictures for my August layout, and then September should be filled with pictures of Austin!

Thanks for stopping by!

July ’15 Top 5

Hi guys! Can you believe we’re in August already?! I hope you guys are enjoying better weather than I am. I heard the weather man say it was starting to cool off because we’re only reaching 99-100°F the next couple of days… <Insert eye roll, as I wipe the sweat coming out of my eyeballs, not tears, sweat.>

Other than that I’m ready for August! I get to cross something off my bucket list and see Incubus in concert! The best part is AJ will also get to enjoy the concert, he’s a big fan of the band and will be able to sing and rock on.

I hope you guys enjoy July’s Top 5:

July Top 5

1. Christine Herrin More Coffee Stamp SetJuly Fave 1

If you know me, you know I love coffee, it just makes my day, I actually look forward to waking up in the morning because I know I get to have coffee soon, the best part of waking up really is with Folgers in your cup! So of course… I had to have this stamp set. I knew of Christine Herrin when I ordered this shirt from Cotton Bureau that she had designed. After Instagram stalking her (she has an awesome feed), I found out she came out with this set AND is coming out with more stamp sets soon! This is perfect now that I’m doing Project Life and journaling, plus I just really love her font!

2. StazOn Midi Ink PadJuly Fave 2I have a couple of StazOn ink pads that I’ve had for awhile, which I use to stamp on pictures, but I never knew they came in this smaller size in this cute pad! I noticed these ink pads popping up on my Instagram feed and I thought they were special edition ink pads that weren’t available anymore but luckily you can pretty much buy them anywhere. I only have the Midnight Blue pad but I am definitely going to get the rest of the colors. Below is a picture I took of some wall art, I stamped the triangles with the StazOn. My husband went with me to this restaurant and saw me take the picture, when I showed him this picture, he didn’t realize it had been stamped on. Pretty good!

3. Studio Calico Labels Stamp Set by Hello ForeverJuly Fave 3

Ok, so I’m loving labels right now and this stamp set is awesome (it also comes with the matching die, which I have yet to order). You get 9 different tags, which you can stamp in any color, and you get a couple of icons. I think this is a must have if you are into journaling and/or Project Life.

4. Comic Home Refillable Felt Traveler’s Notebook

July Fave 4

It was only a month ago that I thought to myself “I will never get into journaling again. What is this Midori stuff? Why is this even a thing?” And here I am, obsessed with the “traveler’s notebook”, so attached to my “journal” that the only time we’re apart is when I’m in bed. Yeah, it’s gotten that bad.

The authentic Midori covers are leather and very beautiful but I happened to come across this green felt “fauxdori” and I fell in love. You can find this felt cover in 3 other colors, and surprise surprise I didn’t get the gray (I really want that one too though). I plan on blogging about my jounal once I really figure out my “style”, so keep a lookout for that!July Fave 4a

5. Autumn Leaves For The Record Stamp SetJuly Fave 5

I just happened to find this stamp set on Amazon when I was shopping online (for Midori stuff) and I thought it would be neat to have for my journal and also for Project Life and Scrapbook layouts. As you can see, these stamps fit perfectly on parcel tags, which are perfect as embellishments.July Fave 5a

So July ended up being more of a “documenting” month for me. I’ve been so attracted to anything that has to do with journals and any modern-day memory keeping and I think it shows with this month’s Top 5. I hope you guys enjoyed your July!

Scrapbooking

Smile #Goodtimes

Hi guys! Today I’m sharing a scrapbook layout I made and it’s my first time doing an 8.5 x 11 page. I usually do 12 x 12 pages but I recently discovered these smaller pages and I love how they look. Most of the layouts that draw my attention are simple and clean looking so that’s the look I went for on this page.

I found some pictures I took on a family trip to Chama, New Mexico in 2013. I had taken these pictures of AJ outside of our cabin with the continuous shooting mode on my Sony camera.

Smile #Goodtimes 1I decided to go for a geometric-type layout because those type of designs really catch my eye. I created a simple layout in Adobe Photoshop because I wanted to plan it out first instead of just putting something together like I usually do.

Triangle Layout copy

Once I got the layout figured out, I cut out the triangles with my Cricut and added different background paper to each cut-out. I also used my Cricut to cut out the sentiment and I added some gold letter stickers and wood stars from Studio Calico.
Smile #Goodtimes 2

I typed out my “journaling” and cut it out in strips. At the end I added a couple of strips to the top of the page with my sewing machine since I had such a big empty space at the top.Smile #Goodtimes 3

I really love how the page came out and I think I am going to stick to these 8.5 x 11 pages from now on! I hope you guys enjoyed!
