April ’15 Top 5

Hi everyone! I feel so bad because I’m late with my My Faves for April but I’ve been so busy this week and I haven’t even had time to craft or play with some new supplies I’ve bought. And here are the two reasons I’ve been busy this week:

Ducks

We got ducks! Long story short, the first one (Lucky, the yellow one) was my son’s, given to him by the school as a project to help take care of the egg and raise the duckling at school. He (or she, we’re not sure) was able to come home on Tuesday. AJ won the black one (yet to be named), it was between AJ and another student.  We had asked for an extra one so Lucky wouldn’t be lonely, and he/she came home on Wednesday. They are just awesome, we love these ducks and have gotten so attached to them already. It has taken a little longer for our girls (dogs) to get used to them but they’re getting there.

So it was a crazy ending to April but slow for me overall. I didn’t get into my craft room as much as I wanted. One of my cards, Thanks Teacher, made it as a Featured Player though, on the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Challenge for week 3! I was very happy about that! I also did get some very cool stuff this month that I’m very excited to use, check it out below!
April Top 5

1. My Sweet Petunia MISTI (Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented)April Faves 1

I finally bought a MISTI, I think I was the last card-maker to get one! I have not played with it yet. I’m hoping to watch some videos on YouTube to get ideas on different techniques. It was a little difficult to get since it was always out of stock but I was able to get it through Simon Says Stamp.

2. Hero Arts Ombre Ink PadApril Faves 2

I was so excited to find out Hobby Lobby was carrying these ink pads! This is actually my first Hero Arts product. This is the only ombre ink pad I have so far but I definitely want to get the rest. The color you see here is Pool to Navy, looks even better in person!

3. Paper Smooches Tag Stitched DieApril Faves 3

I really wanted a tag die and it was hard to choose one out of so many but I decided to go with Paper Smooches. I picked this one because of the size and the stitching along the edge. I used this on my Thanks Teacher card, and I want to use it for tags on gifts in the future.

4. Mama Elephant Block Party Letters Stamp SetApril Faves 4

I love these letters… this is my favorite letter stamp set right now. This font is so fun to use on cards, Project Life layouts, and scrapbook layouts. Another perk is Mama Elephant stamps are really good quality.

5. Tsukineko Versamark Versamarker Watermark Emboss Pen

April Faves 5Say that 3 times fast! Ok, this is awesome… you can emboss anything you write or draw with this pen. It is very simple to use and is as good as the VersaMark Emboss Ink Pad. This is definitely a must have!

That is my Top 5 for April, I hope you guys enjoyed! I hope to get into my craft room more this month for sure. Plus I have two new cute models to create some stuff with!

Thanks for stopping by!

Florida Trip ’12

Hi guys! I’m so excited about today’s post because I FINALLY made a Project Life layout! I have been wanting to do this for the longest time. I’ve had a lot of Project Life supplies just collecting dust in my craft room and I always used the excuse of not having any pictures ready. I was determined to make something this weekend and I went ahead and used pictures from our trip to Universal Studios back in 2012.Florida Trip '12 1 I am so into gold right now, and I knew this was the album for me. It’s this beautiful solid gold and I purchased this at my local Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago. Florida Trip '12 2 I used my card-making supplies for this layout. As you can see below, I used a little Lawn Fawn, a little Mama Elephant, and more. Florida Trip '12 3 Florida Trip '12 8 The “This Way!” was stamped using Avery Elle’s Elle’s Alphas Set (no, I didn’t accidentally type “Elle’s” twice). I stamped this with Tsukineko’s Brilliance Moonlight White, which is my first time using this ink. I need to practice with it a little more, I’ve never been good at using white ink but I do have to say this dried real fast which is great. Florida Trip '12 4 I have a love/hate relationship with my handwriting… I’m left handed and my handwriting has a funny little slant to it. But it’s unique, what can I say! I found this sweet quote on Pinterest, this really applies to the trip for me personally. Florida Trip '12 5The “2012” and Florida state shape were cut out with my Cricut. The “Best Trip Ever” was written as well with the Cricut and colored in with some Copics. The gold star came with my Simon Says Stamp Kit for April ’15. Florida Trip '12 6 Florida Trip '12 7 Florida Trip '12 9 Not only was this trip the best trip ever, but also the best time of my life! My husband, son, and I had the greatest time and I hope we can take more trips like this in the future! I loved making this layout, I like playing with pictures, quotes, and of course paper and I will definitely be making more soon! Thanks for checking out The Lovely Pear!

Thanks Teacher

Hello everyone! Teacher appreciation week is fast approaching and I wanted to make a thank you card with my new Paper Smooches stamp set, Smarty Pants. I’m also submitting this in Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Challenge for week 3.30e9e-sparksbadgeSome of you might remember the black negative paper I had left over from my card “A Sassy Thanks”. I still had it lying around in my craft room and thought it would make a cute background for a card. I knew I wanted to use red and yellow paper for this card but I went back and forth with different colors for my tag and then I thought what better paper to use, than a regular wide ruled paper from AJ’s binder? I put it over white cardstock so it wouldn’t be so flimsy.
Thanks Teacher 2This is my first tag die and I love it, I wish I would’ve ordered this sooner. I finished it off with twine and colored in the apple and books with Copics.
Thanks Teacher 1I can’t wait to give this to AJ’s teachers (I need to make another one), I hope they love it!

Thanks for checking out today’s post, I hope you guys enjoyed!

I Look Up To You

Hi there! I hope you guys are having a great April so far! It has been a very cloudy and rainy week here in west Texas. But, while I wait for warmer and drier weather, I’m crafting it up in my craft room!

I just recently bought the Zoo Crew stamp set from Paper Smooches and I couldn’t wait to use it because I love how PS designs their critters. I knew I wanted to make a partial die cut with this set once I got it, so of course I needed to get the matching die set. I did the partial die cutting with one of circles from Lawn Fawn’s Circle Stackables die set and the giraffe die.

I Look Up To You 3

For the background, I heat embossed Simon Says Stamp clear embossing powder on white paper. You can see on the picture below how well the embossing powder melts. I really like this embossing powder, it melts so fast, and I never have a problem with my paper warping.I Look Up To You 1

I used Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, and Limeade Ice from Papertrey Ink with my Ranger blending tool to finish off the background.

I Look Up To You 2The giraffe was colored with Copics (I’m still trying to master those). I used foam adhesive to adhere the top layer over the patterned paper and I stamped the sentiment on Ripe Avocado paper. Because I don’t have any enamal dots, I made my own using Liquid Pearls from Ranger.

I Look Up To You 4

I hope to make more cards soon with the rest of the Zoo Crew critters. I can’t seem to get away from the Paper Smooches website, I’m obsessed and I just want MORE!!!

Anyway, I hope you guys like my card, and please bare with me as I explore all the infinite options of photographing my cards! I’m just having a lot of fun with my camera… and random objects and backgrounds, you get the idea.

Freestyle Congrats

Hi guys! I ordered a new alphabet stamp set from Mama Elephant, Block Party Letters, and this set is so awesome. I love this font! I wanted to make a fun and artsy card. I’ve been inspired by a lot of graphic design/art that I’ve seen on Pinterest lately. I used other new supplies for this card, this is my first time using My Favorite Things products, I used all MFT paper. Also new, is some of the ink. I’ve been buying Mama Elephant pigment ink pads little by little. I have to say, Mama Elephant ink pad colors are beautiful and I can’t wait until I get all their inks!

Freestyle Congrats 5

I like making “splatters” on my cards with my Ranger Water Brush, and I wanted to try it out with this Gold Martha Stewart ink pad. I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out but it came out better than I expected.Freestyle Congrats 1 Freestyle Congrats 2 I just love how gold and navy look together!Freestyle Congrats 3

I stamped a flower patterned background using Mama Elephant’s Freestyle Florals in Ocean. I wanted the ink to match the paper where the sentiment is stamped.
Freestyle Congrats 4

I think this would make a great card for many occasions, from graduations to a new job or maybe even a bridal shower?

That’s it for now, I hope you guys enjoyed today’s post, thanks for stopping by!!!
