I Love U Sew Much

Hey guys!  I wanted to make a colorful card to submit to the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Week 5 Challenge. I’m also submitting a card for the first time to Virginia’s View Challenge #14 Layers and Dimensions.

Virginias View Challenge

I recently ordered some awesome Paper Smooches stamp sets and I wanted to use the Needle Little Love set. As you can see below, it has all these cute shapes associated with sewing and I love the sentiments it comes with.

I Love U Sew Much 2

I made the pattern using EK Success’ Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (I love that name). Now, I can’t wait to get a MISTI, but until I do, my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig will do for now and it’s real easy to use.I Love U Sew Much

I attached my patterned paper with foam tape to give it some depth. All these fun ink and paper colors are from Papertrey Ink. I can’t say enough great things about Papertrey’s colors!

And there it is! This card has served as a reminder to me that I need to use my sewing machine more often. Hopefully… maybe… on the next card?

Hope you guys have a great Easter weekend!

March ’15 Top 5

Well, March has come and gone. In the beginning of March, I was still wearing my winter coat, now it’s 92 degrees outside and I’m in shorts, that’s west Texas for you. This top 5 was hard for me because I bought sooooo many stamps and dies this month! But I narrowed it down and here it is:

Top 5

1. Paper Smooches Sassy Letters Die Set

March Fave 1

This is THE die set to have especially if you can’t decide what sentiment(s) to purchase. I love this font, it’s so funky and (obviously) sassy.  Each letter is unique and no matter what sentiment you make, it’ll give your card a fun feel. As you can see, I’ve kept the letters attached and I plan on keeping it that way because I think the negative part of your paper would make an awesome background. You can see the card I made with this die set, A Sassy Thanks, here (I forgot to mention, this card was chosen as a Featured Player for the Paper Smooches March Picture Perfect Challenge).

2. Mama Elephant Sew Fancy Die Set

March Fave 2

Here is another die set that I think is a must have. I have to say the border dies are my favorite. I love the stitched look on the two border dies, you can see how I used one on the We Really Really Miss You card I made recently. Also, the stitched die (in gray) is also a fun look to add on any card.

March Fave 3

Here you can see how the circle dies pierce your cut and the negative space of your paper. There’s so many things you can do with this, and you get different size circles!

March Fave 4

3. Mama Elephant Dainty Bow Die Set

March Fave 5

So I’ve been wanting a bow die for a while now and I decided to get the Mama Elephant version of it. This is a great die set for that little feminine touch. I love how you can make two different styles with this die and how the bow pops up and isn’t flat (works better with thinner paper). It’s super easy to make and would work great for a lot more projects than just cards.

4. Lawn Fawn Premium Dye Ink Pads

March Fave 6

Lawn Fawn recently came out with their own line of ink pads. I don’t have that much experience with ink because the majority of my ink is from Papertrey Ink, but I knew I needed to start experimenting. I wanted to try Lawn Fawn because I just love all their products and also because the line is new and they only have 10 colors out right now. I knew if I loved the ink I was going to want the whole set, and sure enough, Lawn Fawn did not disappoint! I only have Fake Tan and Cranberry so far. You can see in the picture above how vibrant the ink is. I’m really looking forward to getting the rest!

5. Altenew Vintage Roses Stamp Set

March Fave 7

I FINALLY got Vintage Roses!!! I have been wanting this for so long. At first I was a little intimidated by this set. It seemed complicated and hard, like it would take forever to piece the stamps but I was wrong! Once I finally decided to purchase this, I had to wait for it to be in stock because this stamp set is so popular and it was always sold out. I didn’t realize how many roses and leaves you can make with this until it arrived, it’s the biggest stamp set I have. You can see an example of the beautiful roses and leafs it makes on the picture above, they have great detail.

I am definitely looking forward to buying new stuff during April and can’t wait to see all the new products that will be coming out. I hope you guys had a great March and have an even better April!

We Really Really Miss You

Hello everyone! Can you believe March is almost over? Where is the time going? I just now realized I need to start preparing for my Top 5 for March.

I wanted to share a new card I made using Mama Elephant stamps and dies. I don’t know what I like most out of the three sets I used.

We Really Really Miss You 1

First is the Three Amigos stamp and die set, I mean, how cute are these little amigos? Each amigo actually holds his own little sign.

We Really Really Miss You 3

I decided to change things up and have them holding one big sign, which is the Bold Banner die. This banner is awesome, it is perforated on both ends making it easy to fold. I also used one of dies in the Sew Fancy dies set for the border. This is just one of the dies it comes with, it has another border die, a couple of circle dies, a tag die, and a stitched string die. This set is a must have!!!

We Really Really Miss You 2So now you know why I said I don’t know which set is my favorite! I love the quality of Mama Elephant stamps and they come out with awesome die sets as well. I can’t wait to use them again, I already have some ideas for each set.

I hope you guys have a great rest of the weekend!

About the Pear · Card Making

Springtime Hello

Hey guys! I’m so excited for today’s post! I’ve been meaning to take pictures of my pear tree because it looks so beautiful right now, it’s blooming and full of little white flowers. I was going to take pictures of it during the day but we were outside frying dinner (beer battered chicken strips) pretty late and we were right underneath the tree and I can’t even describe how breathtaking it was to see the moon and stars through all these branches. I don’t know about you guys, but I love, love, love being around nature. My mom instilled a love of nature in me at a young age. She would tell me the flowers she planted were my brothers and sisters, and I giggle to myself as I type this because it sounds silly but that’s my mom and now I understand what she meant when she would talk to me about flowers and plants and trees. So of course, that just helps explain why  this pear tree has so much sentimental value to me, that, and because my parents planted it and look at it now.

I like to PRETEND I know what I ‘m doing behind a camera, so just pretend with me. I thought these pictures were so awesome, I actually thought the pictures were going to come out pitch black but I was pleasantly surprised. I just love how these pictures came out with the black background.Pear Tree - Spring 4 Pear Tree - Spring 6 Pear Tree - Spring 7 Pear Tree - Spring 8 Pear Tree - Spring 9

Because I’ve been feeling the springtime love, I wanted to make a quick and simple card, with spring colors. I decided to use my Papertrey Ink products for this card.
Springtime Hello 1

I ended up making a “Y” shape (just wanted to try something different) for the top layer and used the smallest die from the Stitched Rectangle dies to make a pattern behind it.Springtime Hello 2I think the font on this Hello is so pretty and I couldn’t wait to use it (it’s only $3 on their site!!!) I added a couple of Moonshine sequins and voila! I also wanted to mention, Papertrey Ink has my favorite paper, I HIGHLY suggest buying their Perfect Match Cardstock Sampler!

Well that’s it for now, thanks for stopping by today and checking out my card and pictures!

Card Making

Congrats!

Hello friends! I’m back with a new card I made using some new Mama Elephant stamps. One of the stamp sets I used is Freestyle Florals, freaking awesome! The flowers on this set look doodled and of course I had to get it because I’m so into the “doodled” look.Congrats 1

I also used my sewing machine, and did more than just one line. I made a little pocket with my paper and some vellum. I then put some sequins in and closed it off with more sewing.
Congrats 2

I colored the flowers with some Copics and then went over them with some clear Wink of Stella. I don’t remember the brand of the striped paper but I bought a single sheet of it at Hobby Lobby.
Congrats 3

Hope you guys enjoyed, see you next time!
