February ’15 Top 5

Hi everyone! I’m back with my top 5 favorite supplies for the month of February. Even though this month was fast and very cold, it was still a good month. Not much happened other than I turned 32 and won my first challenge! Also, I got brave and made Valentine chocolate lollipops, which is the first time ever I give away something edible that I made.

Not too bad for my first try!

And now, on to my top 5:

1. Brother XL2600I Sew Advance Sew Affordable 25-Stitch Free-Arm Sewing Machine

This was my birthday present from the hubby. I had been wanting this since I first saw it on Jennifer McGuire’s video My Favorite Crafty Things 2014 – Crafting Tools. My mom taught me how to sew when I was real young but I hadn’t touched a sewing machine since I was about 12 so I was a little nervous about sewing again, but this is real easy to use. I haven’t used it that much but I plan to change that soon.

2. Canson Cold Press 140lb Watercolor Paper

I’ve been trying to get more into watercoloring and I found this paper at Michael’s Craft Store. I bought this because it was a little cheaper than the Strathmore paper I had purchased previously and I have been real happy with it. Below is a picture of some watercolor airplanes I made (I used PTI’s Fly Away stamp and die set).3. WPlus9 Sunshine Layers Die

I added quite a few things to my WPlus9 collection this month and they just have the most awesome stamps and dies. This die comes with the matching stamp set, which I don’t have yet, but this can pretty much be used by itself. It has borders, a sentiment, and cute shapes. I love the stitched look, look at those clouds!

4. WPlus9 Unforgettable Stamp Set
Ok, how freaking adorable are those elephants?! I’m on an elephant kick right now, I also had another elephant stamp set on January’s top 5. Not only are the elephants great but the sentiments are also! Plus you get other little shapes in this set, not to mention, you can stamp your elephant to carry the balloon or flower, it can also wear a little bow or party hat. How do they come up with this stuff?!

5. Copic Multiliner Fine, Black, 4PC Set

I love cards that have doodling on them. Usually I only see lines drawn to frame a card but recently I saw this card on instagram and thought “I must doodle more!” I definitely need to practice some more with different doodles. I bought a Zig Millennium pen to play around with but then decided to splurge on this Copic set. I can’t help it, I’m addicted to anything Copic!

Well there you have it! I hope you guys keep checking back on my top 5 for each month, it’s a lot of fun trying to decide what to pick. I already ordered more stuff that I’m sure will make it into March’s list!

Dear Friend

Happy Friday guys! I had some extra time to craft today because work was cut short because of the weather. We had a nice little snow storm today but nothing too crazy, Texans just aren’t too fond of snow.

Snow Day First, I wanted to say I am VERY excited because I won my first card challenge! My card You’re Awesome! won the Paper Smooches SPARKS February Anything Goes Challenge! Click on the badge below to see the blog post (if you haven’t clicked on my pin or FB post, hey, I ‘m excited!)

Second, I made a Facebook page for The Lovely Pear. If you get a second, click on my link and give my page a like (it’s a work in progress)!

I finished up a card I started last night. I LOVE LOVE LOVE two step/three step stamping! Delightful Dahlia is my favorite stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I used to look at this and think, how do they do that? The end product is just beautiful!

I finally used my new sewing machine, and like I told my husband, I know the line is crooked, it gives my card character! (My husband and son are my harshest critics!) Yes, I did mess up a little on that but I actually really messed up on the velum paper. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on it and you could hardly read the small print because the letters melted together so I ended up adding the matching paper over it.

I found some awesome corrugated cards by Recollections at Michael’s Craft Store and that is what I used as my card base.

Thanks For Everything

Hello everybody! Notice anything different? I’ve been busy playing on my computer! I decided to change the look of my blog, I wanted to be able to personalize my theme a little more and I even made my own logo (you can find the font I used here) .

ALSO… my card Sunflower Thank You has been getting some love! I was so excited to see LAWN FAWN (agh!!!!) pinned my card! That’s a pretty big deal for me! Like I said before, this was the company that pretty much started all this for me.

Yes, I’m a nerd. No, I don’t care…

Sunflower Thank You also got me my first badge!!! I was “spotted and hearted” on Flickr by the Lawnscaping Challenge blog.

I’m so happy other people are liking my cards plus I’m having so much fun creating them and giving them out.

So to celebrate the new look of The Lovely Pear and the love Sunflower Thank You is getting, I made another pear card.

I am submitting this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Simon Says Add A Little Texture.

I made my own stencil using two sheets of cardstock and Wplus9 Clear Cut Stackers:Pear. I used Papertrey Ink ink pads to give my embossing paste some color, and I finished the card with a Simon Says Stamp sentiment embossed in gold on velum paper.

You’re Awesome!

Hey guys! I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! I got exactly what I wanted, a nice, relaxed, warm day! My husband, son, and I had a great lunch and then my son and I enjoyed a movie. I came home and made a card! Plus I bought a couple more Copic Markers, what more could I ask for?! (Oh, the married life…)

So I finally made my first shaker card and I also “wrote” on my card. I don’t know if this is considered “doodling”, but I was very nervous bringing a pen anywhere near my card, I think I was more nervous with the pen than I ever was with a Copic.

I used the Paper Smooches Spectrum stamp and die set and some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

I’m entering my card in the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes and Simon Says All Creatures Great and Small challenges.

Altenew Card Set

Hey guys, welcome back! I’m so excited to show you my first card “set” I made. This set was made for my friend I mentioned on my last post.

I am so glad I purchased the Altenew Super Script stamp sets because they have so many sentiments for so many occasions!

Because the baby shower cards were tone on tone, I wanted to do the same to this set.

I don’t know why it took me so long to make a set, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. I just wish my handwriting looked like this though…
