His & Hers Baby Shower Cards

Hello everyone! A friend/co-worker of mine asked me to make two baby shower cards for a His and Hers shower she is throwing at the same time. Her theme is elephants and she asked me to keep the cards within the same theme. Well it seems that elephants are “in” right now but unfortunately the elephant stamps I was looking at were being released too late! Thankfully I found a safari stamp set by Some Odd Girl and it had two different, very cute, elephants. I practiced so many times coloring these in with my Copics, and I still need more practice! But… I’m happy with how my coloring skills are coming along!

I decided to keep it simple because the simplicity of homemade cards has been getting my attention a lot lately. I stamped the background with some Studio Calico stamps, and I did some tone on tone stamping with Papertrey Ink ink and paper. I also used Lawn Fawn’s Sophie’s Sentiments, which is a great stamp set to have because it comes with so many sentiments.

I also made my first card set, my friend asked for a set to give away as a prize. Those cards will be posted on my next blog post so stay tuned!

Sunflower Thank You

Happy February! I love this month because it always feels so short to me I know spring is just right around the corner, oh yeah, and my birthday is this month.

I am submitting a new card the the Lawnscaping Challenge #99: Clean & Simple.

I decided to bring out my very first stamp set I ever ordered online, Our Friendship Grows from Lawn Fawn. I watched this video from Lawn Fawn’s Kelly Marie and I was hooked, I knew I wanted to make cards! I love all her videos, she makes crafting look so simple and fun.

I like that I feel more comfortable coloring with my Copics and knowing that I don’t always have to stamp on patterned paper, like I did on the card below. This was the first card I made (with the help of Lawn Fawn’s video).

I’m so ready for winter to be over, and this card just reminds me of spring. I can’t wait to see my pear tree bloom!

Thanks for stopping by!

January ’15 Top 5

Hey guys! I can’t believe this month is over already! January has been The Lovely Pear/Lana del Rey month for me. I listened to pretty much nothing but Lana del Rey’s album Born to Die, awesome album! And yes, I listened to it as I crafted this whole month. I’m very proud of myself for keeping up with the blog as I have been, I thought I might struggle because I wasn’t making that many cards but the blog is helping me become more creative and I’ve even been trying out new techniques!

At the end of each month I’m going to show my favorite 5 supplies that I bought during the month. Keep in mind, some of these items were probably released a while back but if they’re on my list that means I just bought it during the current month.

So here we go:

Ds Top 5

1. Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Mini Kit #1 (Custard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade)

Fave 1

These inks are so awesome! I love how easy it is to blend these colors, like I did on this card. I really had no idea you could do this and more with them and I will definitely be buying more!

2. Faber-Castell Gelatos

Fave 2

I know I’m not using these to their full potential but I’m glad I bought them and I want to use them more often. I bought the blue set of four and I received the gold one in my Simon Says Stamp kit for February. I’ve already used the blue kit on this card, but I will be using these (and future gelatos) on more cards, maybe even scrapbook pages.

3. Some Odd Girl On Safari Stamp Set

Fave 3

I just got this in yesterday and I’m already obsessed! How cute are these critters? I bought these because of the elephant stamps (for two babyshower cards I’ll be making) and now I’m glad the set included the giraffe and lion. I already broke these babies in last night and started practicing coloring them with Copics.

4. Studio Calico Tiny Stars Wood Veneer Shapes

Fave 4

I’m loving all the wood veneer shapes that are coming out right now, especially these tiny stars. I’ve already used them on a card with the gelatos and I hope to make a shaker card with them, and a Project Life layout as well.

5. Memory Box Whirlpool Burst Die

Fave 5

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there are some pictures on my blogs that have a bunch of little dots in the background, it’s because of this die. I love this die and I’m already coming up with an idea for a card as I type this and look at this picture. I already made a card with this but I didn’t post it just because I wanted to make another one and I was going to see which one I liked better, but since I haven’t made the second card, here is the first.

Whirlwind Birthday 2

So there’s my top 5 for January! Believe me, it was hard to pick only 5 because I bought so many supplies this month! And just incase you were wondering, yes, I have been keeping up with the money challenge and I have $15 in it! Woot woot (<– my victory yell)! And yes, I’m listening to Lana del Rey right now.

Bye guys, see you next month!

It’s a Girl Baby Shower Card

Hello friends! A good friend of mine asked me to make her a baby shower card for a pregnant friend of hers. I was already coming up with different ideas when she told me she needed it in two days…  boo, I was hoping I would have an excuse to order some supplies (who am I kidding? I don’t need an excuse).

Well… it turns out I wasn’t done playing with felt.

Its a Girl 1

I came home and came up with this sweet card and was able to give it to her just in time! It was so easy for me to cut out the pears from felt on my last card that I decided to use it again for this card. Even though the letters are a lot smaller, I had no trouble die-cutting them. Also, I am so impressed with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue, the felt completely stays in place. Definitely a great purchase.

Its a Girl 2

Its a Girl 3

I used a cover plate die from Papertrey Ink, and these dies are so awesome because there’s so many ways to use them. I used the same die for a birthday card I made last year. I did more of a rainbow effect instead of using the coordinating stamp set.

Fabulous Birthday

I love the birthday card and I’m very happy with how the baby shower card came out. My friend loved the card and I hope the recipient does as well!

Happy Little Hello

Hi guys! I’m so excited to show you this card I made this last weekend. This is definitely one of my favorites! I finally decided to use felt and my new pear dies! I wanted to create a small, simple card, made for no specific reason but just to say hello.

Happy Little Hello 1

I sprinkled some dots of Simply Chartreuse and Ocean Tides ink with my Ranger Water Brush. I then cut the pears out of felt and glued them with Tombow liquid glue and added some gold sequins with glossy accents.

Happy Little Hello 2

I’m so happy with how this card turned out! I’m on the lookout for more pear shaped stamps and dies so this is not my last pear card!

Thanks for reading! Please don’t forget to follow my blog if you’re not already!
