Pink Lemonade Hello Card

Hello again! After I posted last night, I was ready to get in my craft room to try to come up with a card for the Lawnscaping Challenge: Create a Background.

Yesterday I bought the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Mini Kit #1 and a Versamark Emboss Ink Pad and I REALLY wanted to use both with this card. For this challenge, I had to create my own background using stamps. I went with Lawn Fawn’s Sophie’s Sentiments and used the little happy face, flower, and heart.

I created the background with the distress inks, and used white embossing powder for the pattern. I cut the sides with Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Scallop Border and the sentiment with Scripty Hello in three different colors. The background was then added to the card with foam tape.

I’m very happy with how it came out and I can’t wait to submit more cards to the Lawnscaping Challenges!

I’m really happy with how the card came out and I look forward to submitting more cards to the Lawnscaping Challenges.

Organization

Blending Foam Organization

TGIF everyone!!! I am so ready for the weekend, I’m hoping to make a card for another challenge this weekend but first… I wanted to do a quick post about the way I organize my blending foam. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about organization this week and I wanted to throw one out there also. I love organizing my craft supplies, I mean how else are you supposed to know what supplies you’re missing and need to buy, right?

I recently bought my first blending tool and I went with the Ranger Mini Round Ink Blending Tool (I split this with my fellow crafty friend Angela). Because my Papertrey Ink ink collection is growing, I wanted to figure out a way on how to store my blending foams. I’ve seen a couple of people who like to velcro them under each ink pad but I don’t like how the PTI pads don’t sit directly on top of each other with foam in between. So I came up with this:

I created an excel spreadsheet (yes, I’m a nerd but I’m not going to lie, I love excel spreadsheets) with the names of all the PTI colors and made squares big enough to fit a piece of foam and made it into a PDF which you can download here: PTI Blending Foam Outline. I bought some Scotch velcro dots to place in each square to hold the foam in place.

I’ve mentioned before that pretty much all of my ink is from PTI and I’m still working on expanding my ink collection so this works for now.

I hope you guys have a good weekend, don’t forget to follow my new instagram account for The Lovely Pear. Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking of You

Hello everybody! I definitely have Katy Perry’s “Thinking of You” playing in my head as I type this. I’ve been wanting to play with watercolor/gelatos for awhile now so I finally decided to buy some at my local Michael’s craft store. These are Faber-Castell gelatos, the “Blue” set, you can find these on Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson. The colors are so beautiful in person, this picture does not do them justice!

Thinking of You 3

I really didn’t know where/how to start but as I was playing with them I had a mixture of purple and blue puddles on my craft mat and I just grabbed my watercolor paper and soaked it all up. I used my new Ranger water brush to add some spots to the background. I wish it was more vibrant but I’m happy with my first attempt with the gelatos. I used the stamp set and some paper from the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit for January (can’t wait for February’s because it comes with a gold gelato).

Thinking of You 5

I hope to play some more with watercolor techniques and hopefully get better at it because I’m loving all these watercolor cards that are coming out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Kiss Kiss

Muah! Smooch! Or as my husband and I like to text each other, Kiss Kiss! I love love love the shape of lips! I thought about using lips as my “signature” on the back of my cards but I didn’t because 1. I hardly have any (lips) and 2. I never wear lipstick. But even though I’m so plain Jane, I can’t help but buy lipstick when I pass the MAC makeup counter at the mall. The colors are just so gorgeous! It’s like I’m a kid in a candy store!

So of course I was excited to use one of my “lips” stamps for a Valentine’s Day card. I decided to submit this card to the Make It Monday Challenge.

Part of the challenge is to use at least one Papertrey Ink item and use homemade foam stickers. The paper, ink, and rectangle die are from Papertrey Ink. I made the XOXO foam stickers with black glitter paper and foam paper I bought at my local Hobby Lobby. I cut them out with Lawn Fawn alphabet dies and my cuttlebug. The stamp, Kiss #127C by Rubber Stamped, was also bought at Hobby Lobby (a couple of years ago). Super simple but sweet!

Cotton Candy Birthday Card

Today I decided to play with a Paper Smooches stamp set, Spectrum, which I think is such a cute stamp set. I’ve been waiting for a good reason to use it and then I realized my niece has a birthday this month!

I have a couple of Copic markers and even though I’m not that good at coloring, I want to try to use them more often. If I’m going to color in a stamp, I’ll stamp it more than once in case I mess up on the coloring.

I also stamped and die cut a couple of clouds and stamped a star burst. I also used my new Tim Holtz stencil for the background and I finished off the card with clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and a Lawn Fawn sentiment.

Hopefully the birthday girl will love it!
