Unforgettable Birthday

Nat King Cole plays in my head anytime I hear the word “unforgettable”, please tell me I’m not the only one!  Great music to listen to while crafting, but anyway… I finally made a card with WPlus9’s Unforgettable stamp set! It has been a little hard to come up with something good because this set is so popular right now and everybody has been making all these great cards with these cute elephants, so it’s a little intimidating. I also wanted to bring out the copics and try to get some more practice on coloring.

Unforgettable Birthday 1

I wanted a blue-ish “watercolor” background so my elephant looked like he was up in the sky. I did it by daubing (<- is that right?) my Aqua Mist ink pad from Papertrey Ink onto my craft mat, spritzing some water on it, and then just placing my piece of cardstock on top of it. I sewed on a couple of velum clouds which are also from WPlus9.

Unforgettable Birthday 2

I’m very happy with how the card came out, I love the pop of yellow and I like how the aqua/yellow/gray combo came out. This set is just too cute to let sit for so long and I’m glad I finally made a card with it!

Well that’s it folks! Please don’t forget to check out The Lovely Pear Facebook page and feel free to share! I want to say thanks again for all the “likes” and all the nice comments I’ve been getting on Instagram, seriously, thank you! I love this community because everybody is so nice and welcoming!

Have a great weekend!

A Sassy Thanks

Hello again! I decided to try something different this week. I usually join in on “Anything Goes” challenges from Paper Smooches SPARKS, but this time I wanted to try a new type of challenge. This challenge has a photo for you to use for inspiration for a card, and here is the photo:

I just recently bought the Paper Smooches Sassy Letters and Flowers dies, and I knew I wanted to use these for this challenge.

A Simple Thanks 2

Let me just say, these are must-have dies! I don’t have that many word dies and with this alphabet die, you really don’t need any because you can just make your own sentiments. Plus, this font is awesome! I love how all the letters are different, making each sentiment you make look so unique.

Also, I had been wanting the Flowers die for a while. There’s so many things you can make with all the different flowers and leaves.

A Simple Thanks 1

I made a pattern with the Flowers dies on white cardstock and cut out the same flowers on cardstock that matched the inspirational photo, and popped them into the negative spaces to make a flat layer. I double layered the letters in black.

A Simple Thanks 4

I made another card similar to this but with different colors and a different sentiment. I just love how simple and clean these cards look!
A Simple Thanks 3So there you have it! I’m looking forward to trying out more challenges, I like to challenge myself and try new color schemes and techniques.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed!

Thanks For A Great Year

Hi there! Next week is Spring Break here in west Texas and I’m still wearing my winter jacket… HURRY UP SPRING!!! Since I’ve been spending a lot of time indoors, I figured I might as well get started on some end-of-the-year cards for my son’s teachers. I have had the A Good Apple stamp set from Lawn Fawn since last year and hadn’t used it, that is, until now. And what better timing because Lawnscaping Challenges’ new challenge is Dots & Stripes.

I have Lawn Fawn’s Let’s Polka Petite Paper Pack which was exactly what I needed for this challenge and surprise, surprise, I doodled some more.
Thanks For A Great Year 1

I wanted to keep the cards simple but make each a little different because everything I have made for them has been identical. I used my Copic .05 pen to doodle, and I colored in the leaves of the apples and letters with my Grayish Olive Copic marker. I got a little brave and TRIED to give some of the apples a little bit of a shadow. Thanks For A Great Year 2

I sure hope AJ’s teachers like their cards, lord knows they deserve some goodies! Now that I think about it, I might add some apple scented lotion or a caramel apple!

Hopefully the next time you check my blog I will have a picture of my pear tree blooming, but I doubt it… fingers crossed though!

Bee Happy

Hi guys! I am back with a new card, and I’m pretty excited about this one! I doodled! Now, my doodling is not all that but all in all the card came together the way I envisioned it in my mind.

I’m submitting this card in the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge: Anything Goes.

I fell in love with the Paper Smooches bee when I first saw it, and I knew it would be perfect for this card. I wanted something with a pop of color since the card was going to be black and white. I really want the “Bee Mine” stamp set but because I’m so impatient I decided to go ahead and use the free digital stamp of the bee and use the “bee happy” sentiment. I cut my bees with my Cricut Explore and I printed the sentiment with my printer.Bee Happy 3

As you can see in the picture below, my bee didn’t have a perfect black outline because of the way the Cricut cut it. I used my Copic pen to go over the edges to make the outline better. Then, I added the bees to my card with foam adhesive.

I finished off the card with a couple of sequins and voila!

That’s it for now, hope you guys liked my card! Don’t forget to check out The Lovely Pear on Facebook and Instagram!

Dear Friend

Happy Friday guys! I had some extra time to craft today because work was cut short because of the weather. We had a nice little snow storm today but nothing too crazy, Texans just aren’t too fond of snow.

button - facebookI finished up a card I started last night. I LOVE LOVE LOVE two step/three step stamping! Delightful Dahlia is my favorite stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I used to look at this and think, how do they do that? The end product is just beautiful!
Dear Friend 1

I finally used my new sewing machine, and like I told my husband, I know the line is crooked, it gives my card character! (My husband and son are my harshest critics!) Yes, I did mess up a little on that but I actually really messed up on the velum paper. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on it and you could hardly read the small print because the letters melted together so I ended up adding the matching paper over it.Dear Friend 2

I found some awesome corrugated cards by Recollections at Michael’s Craft Store and that is what I used as my card base.

Well guys, that is it for now, my next post will be my Top 5 Products for the Month meaning we are done with February!
