2017 DITL Mini Album

So let me start off by saying I had no intention of doing a Day In The Life project. Why? Because the days in my life are boring, that’s why. Plus, the original date that everybody did this project on, was a weekday, meaning the majority of my album would’ve been me at my desk at work, the rest would’ve been me sprawled all over my couch, in my PJs (which consists of either my George Michael or Beyonce shirt with sweats and no bra (come to my house at your own risk!)), watching re-runs of Seinfeld, and maybe one page about my husband and I spending thirty minutes to an hour deciding what to eat for dinner. Not something I was jumping at the chance to document quite honestly. Then low and behold, my very persuasive creative teammates over at Kellie Stamps, convinced me to do the project with them on July 1st. Not sure how this was the date that got chosen but it fell on a Saturday so I figured why not? And now, check it out, my first project that I actually finished! Yes, first one! Completely done, with a cover page and all!

I actually had the idea of showing you the album in a video, but apparently my voice was not cooperating with me. No, I’m not sick/hoarse. It just sounded ugly.

A quick overview of my day is that I woke up, headed out to a vinyl store at a city nearby, went to a weaving class, ran a couple of errands with my husband, and then came home to relax. Doesn’t sound very special BUT, I took some really neat pictures that helped my album look like I actually do stuff (some weekends look like that first paragraph without the 8 hours at a desk).

I used some digital stamps from Kellie Stamps new release (available here in a couple of days) and I also mixed in some Kelly Purkey Stamps, which I also used to make embellishments. I used Photoshop for my journaling and some paper from Push Print Studio and A Beatuful Mess’ Messy Box.

Thanks to my GoPro, I was able to get shots of myself in the album. Most of the photos were taken with my new Samsung Galaxy S8+. This is the first time I was a little sad to upgrade my phone because I loved my Galaxy S6 Edge, but I’m quickly learning how to work this new phone.

I hope you guys enjoyed looking at my album as I did making it! Thanks for stopping by!

Mini Album: Say Yes To New Adventures

Hey there! I have a couple of new mini album pages to share with you today. All the pictures on these pages were taken during our Moab trip (I promise I’ll stop talking about Moab soon… maybe.)  I actually love looking at these pages you’re about to see because if you didn’t know any better, you would think I was an adventurous person just by looking at them. You would have no idea that lately my life pretty much consists of watching all the Real Housewives, scarfing down rainbow sorbet, that’s if I actually felt like getting up and taking the time to scoop it in a plastic cup, if not, I’d be stuffing my face with Doritos. Adventurous? Ha!

For this first layout, I used two inserts from Push Print Studio for my background. The first insert (pink and white) is from the This and That set, and the second (polka dot) is from the Let’s Do This set. I added some washi tape from Studio Calico (?) and a die cut from Hero Arts Clearly Kelly’s To Do List stamp and die set. I made the transparency page with Grafix Ink Jet Film and added an exclamation mark pattern with Kellie Stamps’ Nuts About Food digital stamp set. If you have not checked out Caytlyn Chilelli’s (owner of Push Print Studio) blog post on how to print on transparency paper, you must! This is where I learned it from!

The “Perfect” digital stamp is from Kellie Stamps’ Today Was set. I added some plus sign puffy stickers that I received from one of Messy Box’s kits.

On the next layout, I kept it real simple and added a quote to one of my pictures with Photoshop.

20170506_082604

It’s a little hard to see the quote because I used a pale pink color for my font.

This is one of the many reasons I love my GoPro because let’s face it, if my husband took this photo with his phone, 1. it wouldn’t exist because he wouldn’t have taken a picture 2. if he did happen to take a picture after I asked him to, it would’ve looked like… well let’s just say I didn’t marry him for his photography skills.

And here’s my last layout. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw me post this already for (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day. I joined the Kellie Stamps challenge which included making a patterned background and combining two different stamp sets.

Again, this is another simple layout and again, it was my GoPro to the rescue. I’ve been inspired by a lot of magazine and typography design and I’ve been drawn to clean and simple looks and so I tried to mimick some of that into this album. The only embelleshment I used on this layout was a black heart from Amy Tangerine On A Whim thickers. I don’t use thickers often but I love this set and you might have seen some of these pop up on my flat lays.

So adventurous!!!

I must go now, my couch and TV await! Thanks for checking out today’s blog post!

December Daily: Days 11-15

Happy New Year’s Eve!!! I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and is enjoying the end of 2016! We actually had our Christmas on the 26th and we had a great time, even with a dead tree with no lights and even though my husband and I exchanged gifts days before.

Today I’m sharing days 11 thru 15 of my December Daily mini album today. For day 11, I took a close up picture of some flannel shirts I had just bought and I printed the “bring on the cheer.” card from Push Print Studios.

dd13

For day 12, I used a picture of our new Texas ornament to symbolize my day of jury duty… Yes, fun times were had that Monday… Well maybe it wasn’t the most fun day but it was interesting.

dd14

On the 13th, AJ had his first band concert. After he was done playing and the advanced band started performing, he sat down in front of me with my parents. I was able to take this quick shot of them with my phone.

dd15

So it turned out I didn’t take a picture for the 14th so I enlarged an other insert from Push Print Studio. I got the small pink tags from this month’s Messy Box.

dd16

Here is a close up of the “all the joy” insert. I just love all of Push Print Studio’s designs, it was really hard for me which ones to choose!

dd16a

For day 15, I had the opposite problem. I took a picture but I forgot to jot down notes for the day. Thankfully, I took a couple of pictures of my girls and I used two and cropped them down to look similar. I used the Merry digital stamp from the Kellie Stamps Merry Joy digital stamp set.

dd17

This really came in handy since I didn’t have any journaling but it also adds different elements to the album.

dd17a

I’m almost done with my whole mini and I am so proud of myself for keeping up with it the way I have. I can’t wait to share the rest!

Have a great and safe New Year’s and I will see you in 2017!!!

Mini Album: Living the Dream

Hey guys! It seems lately that my craft mojo kicks in on Friday nights. I whipped up a couple of new pages for my mini album last night and I’m thinking that when I’m done with this, I’m going to have to make a flip-through video of it. I’ve decided to fill this mini with photos that didn’t make it into my PL album (I might have a couple of pics that make it into both) and fill it up with quotes/lyrics that I love.

I love playing in Photoshop, I wish I could take an Adobe class because I know there is so much to learn on that software. You can see here I typed out a quote (gotta love Pinterest) and I tried to make it look like the words are behind my silhouette, if that makes any sense. It’s one of my favorite things to do with pictures.

Something I’ve always wanted to use is acetate pages but I’ve never known how or where to use them. Luckily I have a couple of really neat acetates that I’ve collected from my Messy Box kits.

Here is a perfect example of why I’m using pictures that didn’t make it into my PL album. This picture of Shawn and me, I didn’t really pay any attention to it, I had completely forgotten about it. It’s a picture we took in the beginning of the year and we both don’t care much for taking selfies, but we did this day because we were excited about the framing going up on the new house. I didn’t bother with the pic because of Shawn’s face and I thought I looked goofy. Now, it’s one of my favorite pictures of us. It’s totally us. Even though Shawn is squinting because of the sunlight, he makes this face pretty often when I tell him I have an idea. And as for me, it’s nice to see a picture of myself every once in a while where I’m smiling. Mega heart eyes!!! Just like the digital stamp I used from Kellie Stamps.

20161105_112822

I used a couple of PL inserts from Push Print Studios for my acetate page. “Living the dream” can pretty much sum up how Shawn, AJ, and I felt this year so this was perfect for my mini.

20161105_123127

Here is one of my favorite pictures that I love to use on my social media, my messy desk. I love this picture so much, I took it for a quick Instagram post and I ended up using it as a cover photo for my blog, Facebook, Big Picture Classes, and Flickr. And also, who doesn’t love a Brene Brown quote?!

I seriously can’t wait to fill this up some more and finish it! Thanks for checking out my post today, I hope you enjoyed it!

January ’16 Top 5

Something I started to do this year is reading, and I mean REALLY reading, blog posts. I’ve always enjoyed checking out blogs, but I would usually just skim through posts and just look at the pictures or the blog design. Now I actually sit in bed and read posts from my favorite blogs and not only do I look at the pictures but I absorb every part of the written material, I read the “about me” pages, and even read the comments and I learn bloggers writing styles. I’m very proud of what has become of The Lovely Pear yet there is so much to learn and I feel like I’m barely wetting my toes in the pool of blogging.

This month I want to share my top 5 favorite bloggers. I enjoy these blogs because they have bad-ass looking sites, I love how they write, their message, crafts, pictures, and style. Each one is unique in their own way and I have to admit that I get excited when they upload a new post!

1. Give A Girl A Blog

First of all, the name itself is so clever, second, I just love Kellie’s style. Looking at Kellie’s blog page made me realize that the look of my blog was important (which I’m still trying to work on). I also enjoy reading her “currently” posts and I love her Project Life layouts and the crafts that she does. I first found this blog when I saw her stamp sets on Instagram, and after buying all the sets I could get, I’ve been hooked. Plus this girl can give you the 411 on essential oils and you get hooked up with freebies when subscribing to her blog. And, I give her full credit for the idea of my Top 5 posts!

2. Kelly Purkey

Kelly opened the door of Project Life for me. I had really never noticed how photography and journaling could play such a big role in Project Life until I saw Kelly’s layouts. She makes memory keeping look so easy but so fun. I’m still trying to get that great food shot like she does, maybe it would help if I ate something other than pizza and tacos. I love using her stamps and dies for my Project Life layouts and I always go back to her blog when I need some inspiration.

3. Damask Love

Amber’s blog is one that I really enjoy because I have that “omg, that’s how I feel!” moment when I’m done reading one of her posts. Yes, her blog is super cute, and yes, she takes GREAT pictures, but that “she gets me” feeling I get is why I read blogs in the first place. You can find great tips and DIY projects on this blog, and I obviously enjoy the “Damask Loves” posts.

4. Becky Higgins

So when I say I like to “sit back and relax”, first thing that comes to mind is Sunday mornings, sitting in bed, and reading Becky’s “Good Life With…” posts. I do this every Sunday before I start my day. I feel like I learn a new life lesson with these posts, and I enjoy learning new things from different creative people. You can also find great photo/tech tips and loads of Project Life inspiration!

5. A Beautiful Mess

I just wish I was born with Elsie and Emma’s style and creativeness! Their blog has everything, from crafts to recipes, interior design to blogging tips, and to top it off, they’re the creators of the Messy Box! They also just came out with their own app and I can’t wait to try it out (still waiting for the Android version)! Just like their style, they have very unique photos and I really enjoy reading their posts.

If you haven’t already, you really need to add these blogs to your Feedly subscriptions. My reviews seriously don’t do these blogs any justice. Let me know what you think and feel free to let me know what some of your favorite blogs are so I can add more to my feed!
